Set up your Sony camera for Lutaro

Menu paths verified against Sony's official α6700 Help Guide · July 2026

Lutaro connects to your camera in the same way as Sony's own software: over Wi-Fi using the camera's PC Remote setting, or through a USB cable. Both work on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This guide shows every camera setting you need, with the exact menu path for each.

Two sets of menu names. Newer cameras (a9 III, α1 II, ZV-E1, and recent firmware on the a7 IV, a7R V, and α1) renamed two menus: Cnct./PC Remote → PC Remote Function is now Cnct./Remote Sht. → Remote Shoot Function. The α6700 and older cameras keep the old names. This guide shows both. Every other menu name is the same.

1. Put the camera on your Wi-Fi network

Camera and device (iPhone, iPad, or Mac) must be on the same Wi-Fi network.

MENU → Network → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Connect = On

The camera searches for networks. If yours is not listed, use WPS Push (press the WPS button on your router), or Access Point Set. to type the network name and password by hand. Both are in the same Wi-Fi menu.

Recent firmware (α6700 2.00 and later) works only with WPA2 and WPA3 networks. The camera will not join older WPA or WEP networks.

2. Connecting away from home

No router nearby? Lutaro can still connect. The easiest way is Bluetooth: Lutaro asks the camera to start its own hotspot, then joins it for you. If nothing else works, you can always type the camera's IP address by hand.

Bluetooth (easiest): Lutaro starts the camera's hotspot

On iPhone and iPad, Lutaro can use Bluetooth to tell the camera to start its own Wi-Fi hotspot, then connect through it. This is how Sony's Creators' App connects too. Set it up once on the camera:

MENU → Network → Bluetooth → Bluetooth Function = On MENU → Network → Bluetooth → Pairing

Open Pairing on the camera. Then start the Bluetooth connection in Lutaro and confirm the message on the camera screen. You can also let Lutaro wake a camera that is switched off:

MENU → Network → Cnct./PC Remote → Cnct. while Power OFF = On

When you connect through the camera's own hotspot, leave Wi-Fi Connect (step 1) off. The hotspot needs it off. A camera woken by Bluetooth starts in hotspot mode. It will not join your home Wi-Fi until you turn that on yourself.

Camera as its own access point (manual)

No Bluetooth pairing? Turn the camera into a Wi-Fi access point from its own menu and join it directly:

MENU → Network → Cnct./PC Remote → PC Remote Function → Wi-Fi Direct Info

That screen shows the camera's own network name and password. Join it from your iPhone's Wi-Fi settings. In this mode the camera is always at 192.168.122.1, and Lutaro finds it there automatically.

iPhone Personal Hotspot

Turn on Personal Hotspot on your iPhone and keep the Personal Hotspot screen open so the camera can find it, then join it from the camera:

MENU → Network → Wi-Fi → Access Point Set.

The default iPhone hotspot settings work on the α6700. Nothing to change.

Camera can't see the hotspot? Set MENU → Network → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Frequency Band to 2.4 GHz on the camera. If your iPhone has Maximize Compatibility in the Personal Hotspot settings, turn that on too.

Manual IP entry

This works in every mode, and is what to try if a scan does not find the camera. When the camera is its own access point, the address is always 192.168.122.1. On a hotspot or a shared network, look up the camera's current IP address in its own network settings screen. Then enter it in Lutaro under Enter IP Manually.

3. Turn on PC Remote

This is the switch that lets Lutaro connect at all.

The camera turns off Wi-Fi when it sleeps. If Lutaro cannot find it, wake the camera by half-pressing the shutter button, then scan again.

4. Access Authentication - with or without a password

Sony cameras can protect remote connections with a user name and password. The setting is called Access Authen. It is in the same place on both menu versions:

MENU → Network → Network Option → Access Authen. Settings → Access Authen.

On - the connection is encrypted. Lutaro asks for the camera's user name and password. Sony recommends this.
Off - no password and no encryption. Instead you approve each new device once on the camera (pairing, below). Sony warns that other people can read this connection.

Where to find the user name and password

MENU → Network → Network Option → Access Authen. Info

This screen shows the camera's user name, password, MAC address, and fingerprint. The camera creates these at the factory. You can change them, or make a new password, under Access Authen. Settings. Type the user name and password into Lutaro exactly as shown.

If you make a new password, saved connections in Lutaro will fail until you enter it. The app tells you when this happens.

5. Pairing (only when Access Authen. is Off)

With Access Authen. Off, you must approve the first connection from each new device on the camera itself:

Open Pairing on the camera.
Connect from Lutaro.
Approve the prompt that appears on the camera screen.

The camera remembers up to 20 paired devices. If the list is full, or after you reset the camera, clear it and pair again:

MENU → Network → Network Option → Reset Network Set.

Reset Network Set. clears all network settings, including saved Wi-Fi networks. You will need to do step 1 again.

6. USB cable

Lutaro can connect over a USB cable instead of Wi-Fi, on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. No network, no pairing, and no password. Set the camera's USB mode to remote control:

MENU → Setup → USB → USB Connection Mode → PC Remote

If USB Connection Mode is set to Sel. When Connect, the camera asks every time you plug in the cable. Choose Remote Shoot (PC Remote).

Use a data cable, not a charging-only cable. On iPhone or iPad you need a USB-C port or a USB-C camera adapter. Steps 1, 4, and 5 (Wi-Fi, Access Authen., pairing) do not apply over a cable. The camera list shows which cameras work over USB.

7. If something does not work

Camera not found on Wi-Fi - it is probably asleep, because the camera turns off Wi-Fi when idle. Wake it, check it is on the same network, and check that PC Remote (step 3) is On.
Scan finds nothing away from home - with no local network, Lutaro shows a "No Local Network" screen and still checks any recently-connected camera. The simplest fix is a USB cable, which needs no network at all. Otherwise use one of the four away-from-home options: Bluetooth, camera-as-access-point, Personal Hotspot, or manual IP entry.
"Camera is busy" - another app is already connected. Close Imaging Edge Desktop, Creators' App, or any other Sony remote software, then try again. A Sony camera allows only one connection at a time.
Wrong user name or password - check them again on the camera under Network → Network Option → Access Authen. Info. Capital letters matter.
"Fingerprint changed" - this appears after you reset the camera or its network settings, or if a different camera answers at the same address. If you did reset the camera, or this really is another camera, accept the new fingerprint. If not, check your network.
No pairing message on the camera - open the Pairing menu (step 5) on the camera before you connect from Lutaro.
Camera will not wake over Bluetooth - you need all three: Bluetooth Function On, the camera paired with this phone (above), and Cnct. while Power OFF On. If the Bluetooth connection keeps failing at once, the pairing may be out of date. Forget the camera in your iPhone's Bluetooth settings, then pair again from Network → Bluetooth → Pairing.
Cannot join the camera's hotspot - look for a Wi-Fi message on your phone and allow it. If your phone cannot see the hotspot at all, set Network → Wi-Fi → Wi-Fi Frequency Band to 2.4 GHz.
